Notes and updates from building NordVitalHealth.

Our story

Why we're building NordVitalHealth

In Finland and across Europe, getting a routine checkup can mean a long wait. And when the appointment finally comes, much of it is spent on questions the patient struggles to answer. What was your blood pressure last week? How has your heart rate been? Has anything changed?

Most people don't track these numbers, and the ones who do often write them on paper or keep them in a fitness app their doctor never sees.

NordVitalHealth changes that. Our band measures vitals through the day and sends them to the patient's doctor automatically. The doctor sees trends over weeks instead of one reading at one visit, and the patient can spend their appointment on care instead of recalling numbers.

Project update

Our first version: software first

Building a health band from scratch means designing hardware, writing firmware and much more. That takes a long time, and it isn't the hardest part of our idea to prove.

So we're starting with the software. Right now we're building this website, the doctor dashboard and the patient app, and testing them with sample data.

Next, we'll connect ready-made health bands under our own brand and route their readings into our cloud. Once that works, we'll move on to designing and manufacturing our own band.

Data

Why checking the data matters

A doctor can only use data they trust. So we check every reading at each step of its journey.

Here's an example. A medical cuff measures a patient's blood pressure at 130/90. The band shows 120/80. The cloud receives 125/75. Three different numbers for the same moment means something is broken: either the band's measurement or the way the data travels.

We compare the values at the band, in the cloud and on the dashboard. When they don't match, we find the break and fix it before any of that data reaches a doctor.
